Here is a bit of encouragement for anyone who might have unfinished projects laying around…

For several glorious years I made the trek to Sacramento with Duon and other friends for the Spirit of Cross Stitch Festival. When the course catalog would arrive (months ahead of time) we would pour over it for weeks while we juggled our schedules, our wallets, and our skill levels until we found just the right mix of classes. Then the Festival would come and we would meet each challenge in our own way, beginning each project during the workshop and progressing at our own pace. Back at home I would make a few stitches in each before tucking the tote bag into the depths of my bedroom closet.

Meanwhile, Duon would return home and immediately tackle her favorite project. When that was completed, she would go on to the next, and so on. And the next time I walked into her home I would be greeted by her completed…

Sunday Sharing

I had the pleasure today of inviting myself to my friend (and fellow Close To My Heart consultant) Vorisia Davis’ workshop in Tulare. They play together monthly at Winni’s mobile home park community room, a lovely place with big windows and lots of table space. They were working with the Balloon Ride WOTG kit and I had ordered one for myself last week, knowing that it was being discontinued at the end of the month. As luck would have it, one of Vorisia’s ladies needed a kit, and I brought other things to do, so she bought the kit from me and I worked on samples of Scaredy Cat papers for the consultant swap we are doing.

I had a great time with the gals and enjoyed just “hanging out” with no workshop responsibilities. I did get to share some of the new papers, etc., that I brought back from Convention, and tell about the wonderful ShinHan TouchTwin Markers.

Here is a sneak peek of a Halloween Treat Bag I made using a Designer Creations Slate Paper Bag, Thistle card stock, Purple Glitter Tape, and images from Trick or Treat Sweets and Frightfully Fun MyAcrylix Stamps.

Scaredy Cat

I have been playing around with some of the new products CTMH will be releasing as of August 1, and have been having a blast. The west end of the kitchen table is my creative space this week. I’m so glad I have very few cooking duties!

Here’s a sneak peek at our “Scaredy Cat” paper pack, embellishments, and coordinating stamps. I love this set because they are not necessarily “Halloween-ish”, although they certainly can be. This fun card features the “Halloween Greetings” MyAcrylix stamp set, our gorgeous Purple Glitter Tape, and Scaredy Cat B&T Duos papers, all available August 1 for your haunting pleasure.

Anatomy of a name badge

Just for fun, I’d like to share my name badge from our Close To My Heart Convention earlier this month. It was held at The Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California, and many things shared a Disney or Mickey Mouse theme. Every embellishment on the badge carried a message:

Convention 2014 Name Badge

Of course, the center of my badge (on Lagoon cardstock) says “Fawn Carriker, Manager”. The surrounding Lagoon glitter paper border signifies that this is my first Convention. Then clockwise from the upper left is *) A button made from a previous Idea Book cover. These were used to group consultants for door prize drawings during Convention. This particular button helped me (and the other consultants who had it) win the very first drawing Thursday morning:

The Close To My Heart logo is top center. Then continuing clockwise is a pair of “Stampers with an Attitude” mouse ears made with our new Green Glitter Paper. Across the bottom is my “Rise & Shine 5K” race ribbon (from the 5K we ran/walked from Downtown Disney through California Adventure to raise funds for Operation Smile. That’s me on the extreme right, sans tutu.

On the bottom left is the “Brave & Happy” button (all blinged out) signifying to those in on the secret that I was one of the “Group B” dancers in our Happy Flash Mob Saturday afternoon. (I can’t begin to tell you how much fun that was!)

Convention will be July 7-9, 2015, again at The Disneyland Hotel. If you would like to come with me, there is room for you on the Unicorns & Rainbows Scrapping Team. Comment here, message me on FaceBook or email me at for more information.

July Stampers with an Attitude “Bling it Up” Blog Hop

I had such a good time doing last month’s Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop that I decided to do it again for July. If you are new to the concept, it goes like this: You visit (hop) from one blog to the next in order until you find yourself back where you started. This particular hop has 14 participants, (I’m 12th). You should have come to me from Jen Patrick’s blog. (If you are starting here with me, you can reach Aggie Peters and Denise Elliott at the end of the circle. So when you finish here, please go visit Aggie Peters.

The challenge this month was to “Bling It Up” and give it attitude. As I have said before, I am a recovering “naked scrapper”, so adding any bling at all seems foreign to me…but fun! So here goes:

Supplies Needed:
Laughing Lola Paper Packet (X7170B)
Laughing Lola Assortment (Z1854)
Silver Shimmer Trim (Z1799)
Clear Sparkles Assortment (Z1752)
Paisley Perfect Flair MyAcrylix Stamp Set (C1556)
Card base: White Daisy Card, 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, fold at the top
Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, Black (Z2105)
3-D Foam Tape (Z1151)
(To order supplies, go directly to my Online Business Address.)

Laughing Lola "Classy Bling"

Laughing Lola “Classy Bling”

Cut the Laughing Lola B&T paper #1 5″x4″. Adhere a strip of Silver Shimmer Trim flush with the bottom edge of the card; the B&T paper will go on top of it and “float” to give more dimension. With Black Exclusive Inks, stamp “a touch of class and a lot of sass!” and large paisley design as shown. Using the reverse side of the B&T paper, fussy-cut a turquoise and pink flower and adhere using 3-D Foam Tape for depth.

Add bling with the large jewel from the Laughing Lola Assortment and medium clear sparkles on the paisley stamp, and a large clear sparkle in the center of the turquoise and pink flower. At the last minute I tucked a medium clear sparkle in the upper left-hand corner of the card because it pleased me.

I left the inside of this card blank.

In case you missed anyone, or came in on the middle of things, here is the whole cast of characters for our hop:
