Building Community

Yesterday afternoon I had a lovely time at the Little Lambs Preschool fundraiser crop in Exeter.  Karen Munger and her group of volunteers at Trinity Lutheran were exquisite hosts, planning a day of scrumptious food, great treats, lovely door prizes, and best of all — thirteen hours of scrapbooking.

It was a perfect example of building community.  Nearly 50 women with interests in some form of scrapbooking/photo preservation/papercrafting; vendors representing Close To My Heart, Ahni & Zoe/Creative Memories, and Stamping Up — all joined together to raise money for a cause dear to us all — preschoolers.  People shared ideas and skills as they told their family stories.

For me personally it was a day to reconnect with an old Creative Memories sister and meet several of her friends, meet a local CM consultant I have heard about ever since I joined the company and talk to her about the future of our scrapbooking businesses, get better acquainted with a Close To My Heart consultant I had met at a previous event, and hang out with several current friends/customers.  Plus, since I wasn’t officially “working” the workshop, there was time for me to actually make progress in an album of my own.

And while we were at it, we exchanged times and locations of several monthly scrapbook gatherings, as well as upcoming retreats and potential retreat locations.

I love being part of this vibrant community of passionate women.  As long as there are stories to tell, we will be telling them.  What is your story today?

 

 

 

A New Scrapping Adventure

I’m off today for a new scrapping adventure…the fundraiser for Little Lamb’s Preschool in Exeter.  I have been told by several of my friends that this is THE best crop around, with plenty of work room, oodles of goodies all day long, and a nice crowd.  Although it is scheduled for all day, I have my granddaughters to myself all weekend, so will only manage to stay a few hours.  Even so, I will be going purely to do my own stuff, with no responsibilities to teach or work.

I hope to be able to finish my husband’s family album, the one with his baby pictures in it.  It is my favorite format:  black pages, black and white photos, and journaling in white ink.    I hope he loves it as much as I have loved doing it for him.  What will you be working on today?

Second Saturday Scrap, April 12, 2014

It is April, with Easter and Mother’s Day right around the corner.  Come on over to The Little House (aka Sts. Mary and Martha’s House of Hospitality and Education) Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  I will have some card-making supplies on hand, so you can have the satisfaction of sending beautiful cards for Easter and Mother’s Day without paying $3.50 and up at the card or drug store. (Plus making your own is just plain fun!)
